TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY
The APELC MG15-3C-940PF-HRR-SYS is a fully-integrated turnkey pulse-power system based on our 15-stage generator designed for compact, high power RF applications. This generator is characterized by a sub-ns risetime and GW peak power levels. The generator is matched with the APELC Trigger Unit (HRR-TU-18kV-500Hz), a Lambda ALE 802L High Voltage Power Supply, and a Berkeley Nucleonics 575 Delay generator. The APELC HRR-TU-18kV trigger unit utilizes a thyratron-based pulse forming circuit to provide the trigger pulse to the Marx generator. The unit also conditions and routes optical signals from the delay generator to control the charge and inhibit cycles of the thyratron HVPS and the Marx HVPS. This functionality allows pulse charging of both the thyratron and the Marx generator. The pulse charging mode of operation minimizes high voltage DC degrading effects (e.g. corona) and provides a safer high voltage environment since the default state of all power supplies is inhibited. The MG15-3C-940PF-HRR-SYS integrated system includes all cabling and accessory items needed for interconnect. Custom load modules and integrated diagnostics can be tailored for your system needs. All you need to operate this high-repletion-rate pulsed power source is a pressurized air source and a wall outlet. |
